Psoriasis Association of Ireland

2010 started off on a high for the Association following on from an application made to the IFPA board (International Federation on Psoriasis Associations) the Psoriasis Association of Ireland was accepted as a new member. What does this mean for Irish sufferers? What it means is, now the association has got a voice not just at a local level but at an international level.

IFPA unites psoriasis associations so that their global campaign for improved medical care, greater public understanding and increased research will improve the lives of people who live with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and explore the challenges psoriasis presents to the international psoriasis community.

IFPA is the global representative of 125 million people with psoriasis advocating for and responding to increased research in the area psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and related diseases. IFPA also has helped establish and develop psoriasis associations in countries where they did not previously exist or they needed support.

Following on from that in May last Mr. Ronan Farrelly presented our application to the Exe. Board of Europso (The European Umbrella orginisation of Psoriasis Associtions) where not only was the application accepted but he was also elected to the Exe. Board of Europso, a position which we wish him the very best of luck with.

EUROPSO was founded in November 1988 and is a federation of psoriasis patients’ associations based in the geographic region of Europe. As an umbrella organisation operating within Europe, and as a Member of IFPA we have close ties to the worldwide psoriasis movements – the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA), the United States-based National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) and to the Nordic Psoriasis alliance (NORDPSO).

Not forgetting where he started from, Ronan promises to be at this years convention which will be held in the Ormond Hotel in Kilkenny on the last weekend in September.
